PEOPLE STYLEWATCH: Meghan Trainor’s Style Mantra: ‘Show What You’re Working With’

Meghan Trainor may be a Grammy-nominated singer, but when it comes to fashion, she’s just like every other woman and has experienced her own shopping woes.

The “All About That Bass” singer, who grew up feeling uncomfortable when she couldn’t quite fit the same clothing her friends were wearing, is urging fans to feel confident in their own skin, which is why she has recently partnered with FullBeauty Brands, a fashion line targeted to full-figured women.

“FullBeauty is bomb because they promote loving your curves and loving your body and being confident and being comfortable, and that’s all I was trying to say with ‘All About That Bass,’ ” she told PEOPLE. “And so I’m glad to partner up with them. In case some people thought I was bashing skinny people — I’m not; I’m just here because I love myself.”

And that aspect of loving herself shines through in her personal wardrobe. “My style … is comfortable, classy, confident,” she said. And she incorporates those “three Cs” into her everyday look with her staples, which include flowy dresses, skirts, turtlenecks and A-line skirts.

She’s also gotten a few tips and tricks from stylists after having to dress for star-studded events like the Grammys and the American Music Awards, where she’s known for tapping into her inner Beyoncé while walking the red carpet. “I’ve learned to have a nice flow, be comfortable, nothing tight right here [points to below her waist], so no camel toes,” she joked to PEOPLE. “I love showing a little leg, I love thigh-highs. I love [wearing] nice jewelry to show off.”

Trainor has a few styling tips for her fans, too, which include flaunting your favorite assets.

“Show your best parts,” she said. “So I show my waist size, because I love it. I show my legs because they’re pretty good. I show the booty — just show what you’re working with.” And there you have it, folks.
